Uttar Pradesh's aviation soars with 5 new airports and an international hub by 2024, as Union Minister Scindia unveils ambitious expansion plans.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia flagged off direct air services between Ahmedabad and Ayodhya.

The inauguration took place today, marking a historic moment for Ayodhya as it now have three direct flights a week from Ahmedabad, strengthening regional connectivity.

Highlighting the remarkable growth in the civil aviation sector within Uttar Pradesh over the past nine years, Minister Scindia revealed that the state had only six airports in 2014. Today, the state boasts a total of ten airports, including the recently inaugurated facility in Ayodhya.

To further enhance air connectivity, Uttar Pradesh is set to witness the opening of five additional airports next month, situated in Azamgarh, Aligarh, Moradabad, Shravasti, and Chitrakoot.

The most significant announcement came with the revelation that an international airport in Jewar is on track for completion by the end of 2024. Once operational, this airport is expected to further elevate Uttar Pradesh’s status in the global aviation map.

Currently, Maharshi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya spans 6500 square meters and can handle 600 air passengers during peak hours. Minister Scindia outlined plans for extensive expansion, with the terminal set to grow to 50,000 square meters.

The passenger capacity will also see a substantial increase, reaching 3000 in the next phase. Additionally, the runway, currently 2200 meters long, is slated for expansion to 3700 meters. These improvements aim to facilitate the operation of larger aircraft for international flights directly from Ayodhya.

Uttar Pradesh is all set to witness a significant surge in air connectivity, with the addition of five new airports and the eagerly anticipated international hub in Jewar.

The ambitious initiatives announced by Minister Scindia signal a bright future for Uttar Pradesh’s aviation sector, promising enhanced convenience and accessibility for its residents and visitors alike.
