London: Luis Suarez has rubbished claims made by a Uruguayan newspaper that suggested he will now stay at Liverpool according to Goal.com. El Observador quoted Suarez saying that he has "a great affection" for Liverpool's fans and they had persuaded him to remain at Anfield. However, speaking after Uruguay's 4-2 win over Japan, Suarez has rejected those claims.

"I didn't say it," said the Uruguayan striker. "Maybe someone else did, [but] the main thing is that I am here now with the national team," he was also reported as saying by Kyodo News.

Suarez claimed in two recent interviews that he wants to leave Liverpool for Arsenal, having grown frustrated at the lack of Champions League football at Anfield. The striker is currently training on his own following his comments about wanting to join Arsenal and also the lack of enthusiasm he has shown during pre-season.
