Diesel Car Lifespan Controversy Unveiled Amidst Allegations of a 'Carbandi Scam
An advocate has filed a case against the lifespan period of petrol and diesel-powered vehicles in India, calling the rule a big scam.

Purchasing a diesel-powered car was never an easy decision as it has been always a debatable topic in India. Keeping all their negative points aside including high maintenance costs and complex engines, a lifespan of 10 years has been always a controversial topic for many buyers,  all thanks to our Motor Vehicles Act.

The rule also has been challenged by an advocate, who brought the matter to court, blaming the rules as a big scam. As per the details shared by Motoroctane, an advocate named Mukesh Kulthia has filed a case against the lifespan period of petrol and diesel-powered vehicles in India.

Carbandi Scam Controversy

He also involved a Transport Secretary of Haryana, Navdeep Sing Virk (IPS), along with other IAS offers of carbon Union Transport Ministry in Gurgaon court, framing them in carbandi scam.

While bringing the matter to the Gurgaon court, Kulthia handed over a report, where he says that both petrol and diesel-powered cars have a running life of 15 years, which can be extended for an additional five years under the modified Motor Vehicles Act.

Violation Motor Vehicles Act?

Quoting the rule, the advocate says that vehicles can not be seized, confiscated, or outlawed as the government charges the road tax for 15 years. He called the act of seizing the vehicles a gross violation of the amended Motor Vehicles Act.

He says that there is no legal ban on diesel-powered cars, which are 10 years old. However, officials still restrict these vehicles by falsely citing NGT (National Green Tribunal) and Supreme Court orders. He said these illegal activities are being done to promote electric cars and their sales in India.

More Tax on Diesel Engines

Meanwhile, customers who own diesel-powered cars have always been in a very confused situation as diesel engines are being targeted by the government. Recently, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari added fuel to the fire by informing that the government soon will impose more tax on diesel engines.
