HYDERABAD: Fugitive Bhanu Kiran, prime accused in the murder of faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, is very much in India and in touch with film producer Singanamala Ramesh, Bhanu’s aide who was arrested on Friday, sources in the Crime Investigation Department (CID) said. However, the producer is said to deny being in touch with the murder suspect.Ramesh is said to have met Bhanu Kiran at a get-together a few days before Suri was murdered. Suri was present at the get-tegether. Sources in the CID said Ramesh revealed to his interrogators he had dinner with Bhanu and Suri a few days before the latter’s murder. “Ramesh claims that was the last time he met Bhanu. Since then he has not been in touch,’’ sources told Express. However, CID officials who are inspecting the call records of Ramesh say he was very much in touch with Bhanu Kiran. “Bhanu is within the country,’’ they said. Besides the call records, investigators are also checking Ramesh’s e-mail to see if he and Bhanu exchanged mails.During his interrogation, Ramesh told the officials that he went underground fearing arrest in connection with several cheque bounce cases. “There are several cheque bounce cases pending against Ramesh. Most of them were those he had given to film financiers and they all lodged complaints against him when they bounced,’’ officials said. Most of these financiers are from Proddutur.  Interestingly, police said Ramesh was nabbed from  his house in Chennai where he and his family have been residing since 1987. But ever since his links with Suri surfaced, Ramesh had been maintaining low profile and not coming out of his house.“He is involved in several offences. In one such case, he claimed to own a piece of land in Hyderabad and pledged it as surety for a loan. It later came to light that the land was not his,’’ they said.Ramesh was brought to Hyderabad from Chennai on a transit warrant Saturday night and CID sleuths will be filing a petition in the court seeking police custody for further interrogation. “He will give us valuable leads to Bhanu Kiran,’’ they said.
