After the JD(U)’s exit from the ‘Mahagatbandhan’ and the INDIA bloc, Nitish Kumar formed the government in Bihar in partnership with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The new Nitish Kumar-led government has two deputy chief ministers – BJP’s Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.

Notably, Samrat Choudhary on Sunday was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in Bihar, while Vijay Kumar Sinha was elected as its deputy leader.

Other party leaders who are likely to be made ministers in the new JD(U)-BJP government are Nitin Nabin, Shahnawaz Hussain, Rampreet Paswan, Neeraj Singh Babloo, besides Prasad, another BJP leader said.

Who is Samrat Choudhary

Rakesh Kumar alias Samrat Choudhary is a veteran BJP leader, who was appointed as Bihar BJP chief last year. He is currently a BJP MLC and leader of the party in the Legislative Council.

As per reports, Choudhary was given the responsibility of the party Bihar, which is a crucial state for the BJP, due to the closeness to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Choudhary joined the BJP in 2018. His father, Shakuni Chaudhary, a former army man-turned-politician and well-known socialist leader, was a minister and former MP.  Before joining the BJP, Choudhary was associated with RJD till 2014 and after that, he was with the JD(U).

Who is Vijay Kumar Sinha

BJP’s Vijay Kumar Sinha, who is a likely choice for Bihar’s deputy chief minister’s post, was a leader of the opposition in the Bihar legislative assembly when Nitish Kumar formed Mahagathbandhan government.

He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and an MLA from Lakhisarai constituency since 2010.

Sinha was also the Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2020 to 2022, after which, he resigned from his post following a no-confidence motion moved against him by the current ruling Mahagathbandhan.

Nitish Kumar to Swear-in As Chief Minister For the 9th Time

According to sources, Nitish Kumar, with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will be sworn in at 5 pm today. Meanwhile, BJP Chief JP Nadda is scheduled to reach Patna at 3 pm.

This marks the JD(U) chief’s fifth flip-flop in the last decade as the party is all set for the formation of a new government, with the BJP’s support, which is “expected by the evening” in JP Nadda’s presence.
