The festival of colours is almost here and what it brings with itself is well, colours. While it may be fun to throw them at each other, it brings with itself a concern for those who don’t want the paint of their cars to be damaged. If you are one of them then here are some tips and tricks to follow that could help you protect your car from getting stains.
Park it Right, Keep it Covered
Make sure you park your vehicle in a driveway or at someplace where the chances of people playing Holi around it are less. In case you are unable to find such a spot, especially because of the sheer number of cars that are there in every locality, get yourself a plastic cover for the car and keep it covered.
Coat It!
If you are concerned about keeping your car paint’s shine as good as new then it is anyways recommended to keep your vehicle waxed and polished. If you haven’t, yet, then now is the perfect time. Getting a wax coating on your car will not only make it shine but also make it easy for you to wash off the colours on your car once Holi ends. You can also look at getting a Teflon coat, which in simple words, is another layer of protection along with the wax coating and is applied post polishing. The more the merrier, right?
Stock Up
There are several products available in the market which are designed to do the very thing you want – keep the car clean. There are also products which are meant to clean your interiors, like the dashboard for example, just in case you happen to have some stains inside the car as well. Stock up on these products so that you don’t waste time looking for them post Holi and wash off the stains as soon possible. Trust us, it can get tricky to find good quality products the closer Holi gets.
Avoid Detergents
Washing your car with a detergent might seem like the ‘easy way’ to get rid of the stains but we would advise against it, strongly. While it may prove effective in washing out the stains it is important to note that the detergent has been made to wash off clothes and not stains of your car. The reason while it may clean the stains is because it is too strong for your car paint and will damage the paint in the long run.
A Carwash, Perhaps?
So if you haven’t done any of the above mentioned things for your car or if you are a bit lazy then remember, a car wash might just be the answer. But given that its Holi and your car is being a part of it by joining the party and getting itself coloured, we would suggest getting the car washed by a professional. They usually have all the right products required for a proper cleaning and are skilled to use them the right way as well.
