Volkswagen India Launches Second All-Women Store In Ahmedabad To Promote Workplace Diversity, Inclusivity
The company launched its first all-woman-operated store in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, last year.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has announced the launch of its second all-women store in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad city.

Notably, the initiative has been carried out in partnership with Automark Group to promote workplace diversity and inclusivity as well as empower women in the automotive workforce.

The all-women-operated city store employs more than 10 women professionals who will be trained to oversee every aspect of operations, from sales to after-sales service, drive management, customer care services, housekeeping, and security, among other things.

“Driven and powered by women professionals, we are thrilled to announce the inauguration of our second‘ all-women-operated City Store’ in Ahmedabad. A testament to the success of our first store in Coimbatore that encouraged us as a brand to expand this initiative across India,” Ashish Gupta, Brand Director at Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said.

Calling it a wonderful initiative, Gupta added that it was another step towards creating an empowering and inclusive environment where people can learn, grow, and thrive with the brand.

The German carmaker will have a four-car display, showcasing the latest product portfolio, including the Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus, and Tiguan.

The company launched its first all-woman-operated store in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, last year, followed by the second one now in Gujarat. Drawing inspiration from its first all-women store, the company now aims to offer a more engaging environment to its customers, considering the evolving demographic and consumer behaviour trends that indicate higher engagement levels with a diverse workforce. It will also inspire more female professionals to join and excel in the car retail industry.

The first all-women City store had more than 35 employees in end-to-end operations across verticals.

Volkswagen is not the only company in the automobile industry striving for workplace diversity. Tata Motors has also been working along the same lines at its new Omega Factory. According to an HT Auto report, Tata Motors’ new assembly line at its Pimpri-Chinchwad plant in Maharashtra has the largest all-women workforce in India.

The plant, which is known for rolling out the ‘tough’ Harrier and Safari SUVs since 2021, has women professionals joining with an ITI (Industrial Training Institute) background even after completing their class 12 board exams.
