Mumbai: It was completely a lacklustre trade for the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty on Thursday - a last day of April series. The 50-share NSE benchmark moved around 5200 level throughout the session and stayed in a range of 37 points. Index fell 13 points or 0.25 per cent, to close at 5189 while gained just 10 points in the April series.
May is usually not a great month for the market, says Anand Tandon, CEO of JRG Securities. Lot of people are on holidays, therefore the interest will be low, he added.
However, Technical Analyst, Sudarshan Sukhani of s2analytics.com said said the market could easily go below 5,000 in May.
The BSE benchmark was down 20.62 points or 0.12 per cent, to close at 17,130.67. For the April series, the index gained 0.42 per cent.
Country's largest two-wheeler manufacturers Hero Motocorp and Bajaj Auto tanked 3 per cent each. Auto companies will announce their sales numbers for April next week. Top commercial vehicle maker Tata Motors and car maker Maruti Suzuki were up 0.6 per cent and 0.3 per cent, respectively.
