Mumbai: Equity benchmarks rebounded sharply on Tuesday after Monday's global rout, especially led by China. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 290.82 points to 26032.38 and the Nifty climbed 71.70 points to 7880.70.

About 1174 shares have advanced, 1528 shares declined, and 107 shares are unchanged on the BSE.

Tata Motors and Reliance Industries extended rally, up 7 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively.
