It’s extremely sad to learn that Graham Thorpe is no longer with us. His reputation as a naturally gifted, free-flowing batter who played fearlessly and with flair, always stood out. Sending my heartfelt condolences to his family and close ones. Rest in peace, Graham.— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) August 5, 2024

Kambli has experienced his tussle with bouts of health issues in the past including the cardiac attack he suffered from in the year 2013 while on a drive in Mumbai. And a year earlier the former batter had undergone angioplasty on two of his blocked arteries.
Kambli’s prowess with the willow in his hand is well documented with his most fruitful period in the game is coming while he is partnering with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The exploits of the batters are the stuff of fables as they picked apart one bowling attack after the other during their heyday.
Sachin-Kambli friendship
Sachin and Kambli are childhood friends who grew up in Mumbai, mentored by Late Ramakant Achrekar and went on to play for the country.
While Sachin made his debut in November 1989 vs Pakistan, Kambli donned the Indian jersey for the first time in 1991, in an ODI game at Sharjah. Overall, Kambli represented India in 104 ODI matches, scoring 2477 runs at 32.59 with 14 fifties and two centuries. He also played 17 Test matches, scoring 1084 runs at 54.20 with four tons and three fifties.
Sachin Tendulkar retired in 2013 as a legend, scoring over 34,000 international runs with a century of centuries in 200 Tests and 463 ODIs.
