'I Would Love It': Shikhar Dhawan Picks Two Bollywood Megastars to Play His Role in His Biopic
Shikhar Dhawan said he would be open to play the role himself but as far as other actors are concerned, he picked superstars Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh.

Shikhar Dhawan on Saturday drew curtains on his international and domestic career. The dynamic batter announced his retirement through a video message, thanking the fans, family and coaches for standing by him throughout his journey. It’s been two years since he last donned the Indian jersey. The 38-year-old left the scene as a content man after representing the country in all three formats.

In an interview with Hindustan Times after retirement, Dhawan was asked about the actors who could characterize his role on the silver screen if a biopic is made on him. In reply, the former opener said he would be open to doing it himself but as far as other actors are concerned, he picked superstars Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh.

“I would love it, only if it is made well. As for me acting in it, I would happily do it in case I added any value to the film. As for other actors, I would love for Akshay Paaji (Akshay Kumar) to do it, or even Ranveer Singh, for the sheer energy he has,” Dhawan was quoted as saying.

While announcing his retirement, Dhawan said he leaves the scene a content man, having represented the national team in all three formats since making his international debut in 2010 in an ODI against Australia in Visakhapatnam.

“As I close this chapter of my cricketing journey, I carry with me countless memories and gratitude. Thank you for the love and support! Jai Hind,” Dhawan said in a post on ‘X’.

“It’s important to turn the page to move forward in life and that’s why I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket. I am leaving with peace in my heart that I played so long for India,” he added.

Dhawan appeared in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is for India. His best came in the 50-over format in which he amassed 6793 runs at an average of 44.11. He averaged 40.61 for his 2315 Test runs.
