Considered one of the most competitive T20 leagues in the world, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to start this month. There are two franchises who have cracked the code of becoming the most successful team in the history of the tournament and they are Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Mumbai Indians, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, have won the competition five times and MS Dhoni has led CSK to the title as many times.
Kolkata Knight Riders are the third most successful side as they have won the title twice in 2012 and 2014 under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir. Sunrisers Hyderabad also emerged victorious twice as they first won it in 2009 under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist (then known as Deccan Chargers). Then, as Sunrisers Hyderabad, the franchise won the title once again in 2016 under the captaincy of David Warner.

Shane Warne became the first captain to win the IPL title in the first season way back in 2008 leading Rajasthan Royals. Gujarat Titans also won their first-ever title in their maiden appearance under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya in 2022.
