IPL 2024, GT vs PBKS: Punjab Kings Opt to Bowl vs Gujarat Titans; Sikandar Raza and Kane Williamson Play

Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and opted to bowl first against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

GT and PBKS have met only three times in the IPL so far with Gujarat Titans winning on two occasions and Punjab Kings winning once.

Shikhar Dhawan said PBKS have been forced to make a change as Liam Livingstone is out with injury and Sikandar Raza comes into the side.

“We are gonna bowl first, I feel it’s a good wicket and it will stay the same, we will prefer chasing. I don’t think every game is gonna be like that, we will score runs. I think we are playing decent cricket, it’s early days in the tournament, we are going to play better. Livi goes out and Sikandar Raza comes into the side,” Shikhar Dhawan said after winning the toss.

Shubman Gill also announced at the toss that GT have been forced to make a change. David Miller misses out with Kane Williamson replacing him in the side.

“We would have bowled, it looks like an even wicket, it’s been a bit overcast so hopefully there will be no dew. We have started off pretty well, we have got couple of games on the road after this, games on the road are important. Last year, we played away from home. Miller misses out due to a niggle and Kane comes into the side,” Shubman Gill said.
