IPL 2024 Orange Cap Standings After PBKS vs GT Match: Shubman Gill Enters Top Five in Most Runs List
Virat Kohli, despite his disputed and disappointing outing today, still continues to reign supreme at the top of the table for the Orange Cap standings, whilst GT skipper Shubman Gill's composed innings of 35 takes him to the top five of the Orange Cap standings. 

A double-header today saw the Orange Cap and Purple Cap standings incur multiple changes, as the competition heats up in the IPL 2024.

Virat Kohli, despite his disputed and disappointing outing today, still continues to reign supreme at the top of the table for the Orange Cap standings, whilst GT skipper Shubman Gill’s composed innings of 35 takes him to the top five of the Orange Cap standings.

Gill’s counterpart Sai Sudharsan also made advances into the top ten of the Orange Cap standings, with his innings of 31 runs.

The Punjab pacer, Harshal Patel, who wreaked havoc but couldn’t make the difference today with his three-wicket haul made major advances in the Purple Cap standings as he now stands tied on wickets alongside MI’s Jasprit Bumrah with 13 wickets each.

Top 5 Batsmen in IPL 2024 Orange Cap Standings

Virat Kohli (RCB): The Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s shining light continues to deliver with the bat however the team as a whole have not been able to perform. He may have had a disappointing outing today, especially after the controversial dismissal, but he still resides at the top of the run-scoring charts as he has accumulated 379 runs in total from the eight games he’s played at an average of 63.17 and a strike rate of 150.39

Travis Head (SRH): The star of Australia’s World Cup Final win over India, has been tearing bowling line-ups apart in the IPL. Striking sixes from the first ball itself, the southpaw has been in terrific knick and has started to pile on the runs too.  He has 324 runs to his name from six games, at an average of 54.00 and a strike rate of 216.00.

Riyan Parag (RR): The youngster has had a fantastic performance through the season with the bat and seems to have found himself at the number four spot with the Royals. He has racked up 318 runs at an average of 63.6 and striking at a rate of 161.42.

Shubman Gill (GT): Following a rocky start to his side’s innings today, Gill continues to show class and skill, as the skipper leads his team by example with the bat for sure. He has accumulated 298 runs in 8 matches at an average of 42.57 and a strike rate of 146.79.

Rohit Sharma (MI): The Hitman continues to have a fine season with the bat. Against PBKS he was not able to capitalise on his start but still made a significant contribution scoring 36 in 25 balls. In the season as a whole, he has scored 297 runs, averaging 49.5 and striking at a rate of 164.09.

Top 5 Bowlers in IPL 2024 Purple Cap Standings

Jasprit Bumrah (MI): Arguably one of the most valuable cricketers, Bumrah showcases his class during the important times. Against PBKS he picked up 3 wickets while giving away just 21 runs. This now makes it a total of 13 wickets in the seven games to make him the purple cap holder.

Harshal Patel (PBKS): Despite having a rough start, and still continuing to leak runs at an alarming economy of 9.58, Harshal’s splendid three-wicket scalp today against the Gujarat Titans took his total haul to 13 wickets, tying him with table-topper Bumrah.

Yuzuvendra Chahal (RR): The experienced leg-spinner continues to show his doubters why he is still amongst the best spinners in the tournament as he is now second in the wicket-taking charts at 12 in the seven games.

Gerald Coetzee (MI): While he might be on the expensive side in terms of runs conceded, he continues to pick up crucial wickets for MI. Like Bumrah, he also picked up three scalps and now finds himself amongst the top of the pile as he is level with Chahal in terms of wickets taken.

Sam Curran (PBKS): Stand-in captain of the Punjab Kings, Sam Curran has done a fine job, trying his best to lead by example with both the bat and ball. In his unfortunate outing today, Curran picked up one wicket. But, his total tally of 11 so far, catapulted him into the top five of the Purple Cap standings table.
