'Mayank Yadav's Name Should Be Right After Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami for T20 World Cup': Proclaims Ex- India Players
Former Indian cricketers, Manoj Tiwary and Virender Sehwag have backed LSG's Mayank Yadav to be picked in India's T20 World Cup squad.

Lucknow Super Giant’s express pacer, Mayank Yadav has been in the spotlight following his second consecutive match-winning performance which allowed them to beat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 28 runs to pick up their second win of the 2024 season. Looking at his pace and accuracy, former Indian cricketers have already tipped the youngster to be picked for the national side already.

In a video uploaded by Cricbuzz, former Indian cricketers, Manoj Tiwary and Virender Sehwag were asked if Mayank was ready to take on the challenge of playing for the national team or even the T20 World Cup 2024 coming up in June 2024. Both former cricketers have backed the young speed demon to deliver on the international stage.

“If I was in Ajit Agarkar’s position I would put him in. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and then him. Looking at Mayank’s form, action and release it looks like he is in control and it feels like if you give him a bigger stage, he will deliver. With IPL where many overseas players do come in and get them out, your confidence will also go up,” said the former Bengal skipper.

Sehwag shared a similar opinion and a key difference between the LSG pacer and SRH’s Umran Malik. Umran had also garnered a reputation for his pace which also led to him representing the Indian team as well on several occasions. However, he has been unable to solidify his spot in the team. Sehwag believes there is a big difference between the two giving Mayank the edge to deliver on the big stage.

“The difference between Mayank and Umran is that his lines are accurate. Umran was also quick but he wasn’t able to improve on his line and length. Mayank’s lines and lengths are accurate. He is well aware that he has the speed but if I get my lines wrong then I could concede boundaries. Just for that alone I feel that he should play international cricket after IPL if he remains fit,” said the former India opener

The young fast-bowler has already made his mark and is currently second in the wicket-taking charts having played only two games in the season. He also got two Man of the Match awards for his crucial role in LSG’s turnaround following their loss in the opening clash against the Rajasthan Royals.

KL Rahul’s side will be hoping to see the youngster deliver as the tournament progresses as they look to get their hands on their maiden title.
