Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, who is in the USA these days, opened up about the three best moments of his cricket career. The 37-year-old cricketer, who became India’s full-time captain in November 2021, made his international debut in June 2007 during an ODI match against Ireland. He was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 under MS Dhoni’s leadership. Rohit made his Test debut during Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell series in 2013 and, so far, has played in 59 Tests, 262 ODIs, and 159 T20Is.
During an event in the United States, Rohit picked India’s T20 World Cup 2007 title win, CB series win in 2008, and T20 World Cup 2024 title win as the three best moments of his 17-year-long career.
“Mera 17 saal ka career raha hai. I think I have played this game for 17 years. For 17 years, obviously, from year one to now, there have been so many special moments that I have had, and every big moment, I really cherish it. Whether it was my first year of 2007 winning that World Cup, and then next year we went to Australia and we won the CB series there,” Rohit can be heard saying in a video uploaded by journalist Vimal Kumar on Instagram.

“And then from there on, I think I have had a lot of good things, also some downs as well but that’s how a sportsman’s career is. There will be lots of ups and downs. But I want to cherish all the ups that I have in the 17 years or so. I think winning this World Cup (2024 T20 World Cup) will definitely be on the top of the list for sure,” he added.
Rohit made his T20I debut for India against England in Durban on September 19, 2007, and scored 50 runs in the first match he got a chance to bat against South Africa on September 20, 2007. He remained unbeaten on 30 runs from 16 balls in the T20 World Cup 2007 final against Pakistan.
In the first final of the 2008 CB series, Rohit scored 66 runs as a No. 5 batter to help India chase down the target of 240 runs in 45.5 overs and go 1-0 up.
The star opening batter was the leading run scorer for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which India won by defeating South Africa in the final played on June 29, 2024.
