A video compilation of some of Dravid's authentic cricket shots has now been shared on Instagram and the clip went viral in no time as fans took to the social media platform to reminisce about the glory days of the brilliant batsman.

A compilation video of Team India head coach Rahul Dravid’s classic shots has sent several cricket enthusiasts on the internet on a nostalgic trip. Often hailed as one of the best batters in the sport’s history, Dravid was known for his elegance and the mastery to pull off several traditional shots.

The former cricketer often rescued games for his nation through his seamless strokes, scoring crucial runs when necessary. A compilation of some of those shots has now been shared on Instagram.

In the video, Dravid can be seen showcasing an array of typical cricket shots including straight drives, cover drives, square drives, cuts, leg glances, hook shots and pull shots. What adds to the beauty of this compilation is the soulful background music ‘Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat Thi’ by Indian singing great Jagjit Singh. The song along with the graceful shots blends to create a mesmerising spectacle for the viewers.

The video has garnered over 19 lakh views on Instagram along with 1.42 lakh likes. Several users took to the comments section to remind the internet about the former India skipper’s contributions to Indian cricket. One of them wrote, “Sachin Tendulkar is God…Sourav Ganguly is God of offside…VVS Laxman is the God of 4th innings…But when the doors of the temple are closed, even God is behind The Wall of India”.

Another netizen opined that Dravid used to do poetry with the bat saying, “Dravid used to do poetry with the bat”.

A user seemed to agree with this statement as he just commented, “Poetry in motion”.

Another wrote, “Britannia bat, Dravid & Test Cricket”.

Dravid is one of the most accomplished cricketers of his generation. The batter has played over 164 Test matches, 344 ODIs and one T20I for India in his career. He has scored over 10,000 runs in both the Test and ODI formats and was one of the key players in the squad that won the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy.

In his career as coach, Dravid guided India to the ICC U-19 World Cup final in 2016, eventually winning the competition in 2018. He took up the coaching job of the senior cricket team in November 2021. Since then, the ex-cricketer has guided India to the ICC Test Championship and the ICC World Cup finals but hasn’t got his hands on a trophy yet.

Dravid is expected to continue as the Indian team’s head coach for the upcoming T20I World Cup to be hosted in June. The Men in Blue will be playing their tournament opener against Ireland as they once again look to end their ICC trophy drought. The match will be hosted at the Nassau County International Stadium on June 5.
