'With a Youngster, You Don't Expect It...': Abhishek Sharma Impresses India Legend
Abhishek Sharma has been in excellent form this IPL having played a key role in Sunrisers Hyderabad's qualification into the playoffs.

Abhishek Sharma has been one of the top performers of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Representing Sunrisers Hyderabad, the youngster has consistently hit the headlines for all the right reasons through his fearless approach and power-packed batting.

His consistency has also impressed India legend Virender Sehwag – also known for his aggressive batting.

Abhishek notched ip his third half-century of this IPL during the final league game against Punjab Kings played last week. He whacked as many as five fours and six sixes to score 66 off just 28 balls.

The six-hitting spree in the home game helped Abhishek set a new record.

Abhishek now tops the list of the most sixes scored by an Indian batter in a single edition of an IPL.

The 23-year-old has hit a total of 41 sixes in his 13 appearances so far this season.

The previous record was held by Virat Kohli. The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain registered 38 sixes in IPL 2016 when he also became the first player to aggregate more than 900 runs in a single season.

Kohli has been in great touch this season having walloped 37 sixes so far.

Sehwag was all praises for Abhishek after the young batter surpassed Kohli in the six-hitting chart.

“Abhishek has played an excellent knock again. What has impressed me the most is his consistency. Because with a youngster you don’t expect it. Yes, they would perform in one or two games but Abhishek has been consistent throughout the tournament and has maintained his strike rate as well. Not many players can hit a 28-ball 66. He is leading the six-hitting chart as well. He looks stylish as well,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
