Young Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal created history on Sunday (July 14) by becoming the first Indian and second batter overall in the world to hit two sixes on the first two balls of a T20I match. Jaiswal achieved the milestone during the fifth T20I played between India and Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. He scored six on the first ball of the match, bowled by Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, and after it turned out to be a no-ball, the 22-year-old left-handed batter smacked another maximum on the second ball, which was a free hit.
Before Jaiswal, Tanzanian batter Ivan Selemani scored two sixes on the first two balls of a T20I match. The 24-year-old right-handed batter achieved the feat during a T20I match played between Tanzania and Rwanda in 2022.

Sixes off first two balls of a men’s T20I: (where BBB is available)
- Ivan Selemani vs Rwanda, 2022
- Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Zimbabwe, 2024
Jaiswal, who won the Player of the Match award for scoring 93 runs from 53 balls in the 4th T20I played on Saturday (July 13), was unable to convert his start into a big knock on Sunday and was dismissed by Raza on the fourth ball of the first over itself. He scored 12 runs from five balls in the final match of the tour.
The 22-year-old Rajasthan Royals batter, who was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 title last month, missed the first two matches due to India’s late arrival from Barbados after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 final. He was available for selection in the third T20I, and in the match played at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday (July 10), he scored 36 runs from 27 balls.
In the three T20Is of the ongoing series between India and Zimbabwe, Jaiswal scored 141 runs, which puts him only behind Shubman Gill on the list of leading run scorers. The Indian captain played in all five matches and, with the help of two fifties, scored 170 runs. He scored back-to-back fifties in the third and fourth T20I but was only able to score 13 runs from 14 balls in the final match of the tour.
India has made two changes to the playing XI for the ongoing fifth T20I against Zimbabwe. Pacer Mukesh Kumar and Riyan Parag are playing in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Khaleel Ahmed.
