IIT Madras has released the question papers of Paper-1 and Paper-2 of JEE Advanced 2024. It can be downloaded by visiting the official JEE Advanced website jeeadv.ac.in. The answer key of the exam will be released on May 31. Candidates can raise objections to the answer key on June 2 and 3. The result of JEE Advanced will be released on June 9. Admission to IIT, one of the top engineering colleges in the country, will be based on JEE Advanced score.

Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main can appear in JEE Advanced. This year the cut off for unreserved category in JEE Main 2024 was 93.23. This was the highest cut off compared to the last several years. This year, 97395 students got the qualifying cutoff for JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced paper 2024: ‘Paper 2 more difficult’

Candidates appearing in JEE Advanced 2024 said that paper 2 was more difficult than paper 1. The Physics section in Paper 1 was much more difficult than the other sections. At the same time, students described the Maths section in Paper 2 as very tough. The JEE Advanced exam is of 360 marks with each paper carrying 180 marks.

“The overall Chemistry paper ranged from moderate to difficult, with almost all topics being covered in both papers. Organic Chemistry had a slightly higher weightage. The Mathematics section in Paper 1 was challenging due to lengthy and calculation-intensive problems, while it was easier in Paper 2. Physics had an easy to moderate difficulty level in both papers,” an Unacademy educator said.

“According to student feedback, the difficulty level of the paper was moderate to difficult. Mathematics and Chemistry were particularly challenging, while Physics was of moderate difficulty,” said Ajay Kumar Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering Aakash Educational Services Limited.

JEE Advanced 2024 expected cut-off

According to the candidates, the questions asked in the exam were Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Section Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Based. There may be a slight decrease in the cut-off. Last year the cut-off for JEE Advanced was 86. This time it may be between 85 to 90. For OBC-NCL it can be 85 to 90. While the cutoff of General EWS is likely to be between 75 to 80. Last year it was 77. This cutoff is likely to be 45 to 50 for SC category candidates. In 2023 it was 43. For the ST category, this year JEE Advanced 2024 cut off can be between 45 to 50, while last year it was 43.
