Meet The Mother-son Duo Who Graduated Together From IIIT Bangalore
After the admission, both Ranjani MV and Raghav SN also worked together on some projects.

The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore held the 24th convocation ceremony on Sunday, July 7 for the 343 students having completed their education in the institution. According to a report published in The Hindu, the mother-son duo of Ranjani MV, 48, and Raghav SN, 22, were also among the students who received their respective degrees. They got their degrees in the PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) and MTech (Master of Technology) at the same dias. As per the report, Ranjini MV had secured admission to a full-time PhD course from IIIT-B. She was pursuing her PhD in Algorithms in Computer Science from this institution. Meanwhile, her son Raghav got himself enrolled in MTech after passing 12th. Raghav wanted to be admitted to NIT (National Institute of Technology, Delhi). Later, he changed his mind and was admitted to IIIT-B.

After the admission, both Ranjani MV and Raghav SN also worked together on some projects. As per the reports, Ranjini graduated from BMS College of Engineering and took a sabbatical of about 13 years to take care of her children. After the break, she secured a master’s degree from the Computer Science Department of PES University.

Besides this mother-son duo, the other students at the university included 121 from the integrated MTech Programme and 174 from the MTech programme. 14 graduates were from the Master of Science course in the Digital Society Programme, and 23 from the Master of Science by the Research Programme. 11 were PhD scholars.

In a similar instance, as per the WGBA-TV and WFRV-TV, graduates Maureen Fogarty and her son Timothy Ozminkowski received diplomas from Fox Valley Technical College on Sunday, May 19, 2024. As per the reports, Timothy received a degree in software development while his mother earned one in nursing. Maureen said she and her son were even competing with each other to see who could graduate with a higher grade point average. In this competition, Timothy defeated her by .2 on the grade point average.

Maureen told WGBA-TV that now she owes him 500$ (Rs 41,744).
