The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) has officially opened the registration process for pre-matric, post-matric and higher education scholarship schemes for the academic year 2024-2025, offered by various central and state governments. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for these scholarship schemes through the official website, scholarships.gov.in. According to the official schedule, the ministry has extended the deadline for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) until October 31.
Notably, the NSP has commenced applications for 23 scholarships sponsored by the central government.
Under the NMMSS initiative, 1 lakh meritorious students, whose parents’ annual income does not exceed Rs 3.5 lakh, are eligible to receive Rs 12,000 per year (Rs 1,000 per month) for students in Classes 9 to 12. Additionally, guidelines stipulate that each state and Union Territory has a defined quota of scholarships for the relevant age range of Classes 7 and 8.
NSP Scholarship Programme 2024: Eligibility Criteria
The student’s annual household income from all sources should not exceed Rs 3.5 Lakh (this may vary based on the individual scheme). Students applying for the scheme must hold a valid caste certificate and an Aadhaar Card.
The candidate must have scored a minimum of 55 per cent marks or an equivalent grade in the Class 7 examination. Students belonging to the SC/ST categories require 50 per cent marks to apply.

How to apply for the NSP Scholarship Programme 2024? Follow these steps:
Step 1: Head to the official website at scholarships.gov.in.
Step 2: On the homepage, look for the Student option and click on it.
Step 3: Next up, click on the OTR (One-Time Registration) link and register yourself.
Step 4: Log in to the NSP’s official portal using your credentials.
Step 5: Fill in the application form and upload all the necessary documents.
Step 6: Download and take a hard copy of the submitted form for future reference.
