The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2024 exam. The entrance test has been postponed due to ‘technical reasons’, a notice from the exam conducting body says. Candidates can check and read the notification from the official website at nta.ac.in.

As per the official schedule, the NCET 2024 was to be held on June 12. However, it could not be conducted at a few centers across India and has therefore been postponed.

Meanwhile, the new date for the NCET 2024 will be declared soon. “Due to technical reasons, the examination, which had commenced at some centres, could not be initiated at all examination centres. As a result, the examination has been postponed. A new date for the NCET 2024 will be announced soon through the official NCET portal,” reads NTA’s official notice.

While informing the candidates about the status of the exam, which was scheduled to take place from 2 pm to 5 pm, NTA expressed apologies for the inconvenience caused.

This year, a total of 40,233 students have registered for the NCET 2024. According to biometric registration data, about 29,000 candidates appeared for the exam at 292 centres located in around 160 cities across the country, the exam conducting body reported.

If a candidate experiences difficulties with NCET 2024, they can call 011 – 40759000 / 011 – 69227700 or [email protected].

The NCET 2024 is a 3-hour (180-minute) computer-based test (CBT). One mark is given for each right answer. While incorrect responses do not result in a lower score or negative marking.

The National Common Entrance Test consists of 66 subjects, comprising 38 languages, 26 domain courses, one general test, and one teaching aptitude test. Candidates were needed to take seven subjects in total: three-domain subjects, two languages, one teaching aptitude test, and one general test.

In selected central and state universities and institutes, like as IITs, NITs, RIEs, and government colleges, NCET 2024 is meant to be used for students seeking admission to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) for the 2024–25 academic year.
