In a significant boost to law enforcement in Uttarakhand, the state police department will soon initiate recruitment for 2,000 new constable positions. The announcement follows the state government’s approval of the recruitment plan, signaling a major step towards addressing personnel shortages within the force.
The police department has been preparing for this recruitment drive, with the official process expected to commence shortly. Currently, there are approximately 2,500 vacant positions within the Uttarakhand Police, ranging from constables to sub-inspectors. The government has authorised the filling of about 2,000 of these positions, with recruitment application forms set to be released soon.
Additionally, about 200 positions from last year’s recruitment, which remain unfilled due to attrition and non-joining of selected candidates, will also be included in this drive. Last year, around 1,700 positions were filled, but approximately 200 vacancies persist.
Police spokesperson Nilesh Anand Bharne emphasised that the new recruitment will significantly strengthen the police force, enabling more effective and efficient service. The recruitment will encompass various units, including civil police, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and fire services.
This recruitment effort aligns with the ongoing transition of revenue police into regular police roles, and is expected to provide much-needed relief to the department grappling with personnel shortages. As the state continues to enhance its law enforcement capabilities, residents can anticipate an increased police presence and improved service across Uttarakhand.
