Paris: French Champions Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their bid to lure Gareth Bale away from Tottenham Hotspur, with the Daily Mirror reporting the Ligue 1 side are willing to spend £85 million on the Welshman.
It is also believed that the big-money offer is part of an attempt to bring the Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, who they have been linked to heavily in recent weeks. The Tottenham manager turned down a first approach from the Qatari-owned club to move to Paris next season.
But PSG have now returned determined to land AVB and have also promised him Chelsea defender David Luiz. Current PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti could finally be confirmed as Real Madrid's new coach on Monday or Tuesday.
Villas-Boas is now the front-runner to take the post after PSG also spoke to representatives of Michael Laudrup and Guus Hiddink.
