San Juan: Chile coach Claudio Borghi insisted that he would look at the 2011 Copa America in a positive fashion, despite the disappointment of going out at the quarter-final stage on Sunday.
The Andean nation had a host of chances against Venezuela, but could not take advantage and finished on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline.
Oswaldo Vizcarrondo and Gabriel Cichero found the net for Venezuela in San Juan, while Humberto Suazo had briefly raised Chilean hopes with an equaliser in the second-half.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Borghi lamented his team's misfortune in going out but stated that he left the tournament in a good frame of mind.
"I don't believe in luck, I believe in being able to do what you have to or not. Chile always wanted to win. They always had the conviction that they could win the game. I'm going home sad, but not disappointed," the Argentine told reporters.
Borghi also dismissed claims that he had taken Venezuela lightly, stating that he never thought Cesar Farias' team would be "an easy rival". He also pointed to his team's disadvantage at set-pieces, putting it down to "the smaller average stature" of his players.
