I won't rule out Fabregas swoop: Guardiola
Barcelona players have admitted they would like to see Fabregas at Camp Nou.

Barcelona: The 23-year-old has been constantly linked with a move to his former club since the end of last season. However, a move is yet to materialise for the World Cup winner, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger insisting the midfielder is going nowhere.

A number of Barcelona players have admitted they would like to see Fabregas at Camp Nou, and Guardiola will not rule out a move for the Spain international.

The Barca coach told the club’s official website: "The transfer window closes at the end of the month. We’ll see what options there are to strengthen our midfield. I’m not ruling out that Cesc will, or will not, join us.

"The market has stalled. If there’s anything to be done, we’ll do it, but if not we’ll use the players from the lower squads because they give us sufficient guarantees."

Guardiola has allowed defenders Rafael Marquez and Dmytro Chygrynskiy leave the club this summer - as well as Yaya Toure and Thierry Henry - and he says replacements may not need to be brought in.

"There are real possibilities of completing the team with homegrown players. We lost Dmytro Chygrynskiy and Rafael Marquez at the back, but we have cover in depth. The centre-backs I have are enough," he said.

Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, among others, have come through the ranks at Barcelona over the last few years and Guardiola has confidence in the next crop of young players.

He added: "Some of them I already know well and I’ve got good references on the others. Whether or not they play doesn’t depend on me – it depends on them. I can give them a chance but if they don’t respond at the right level then they don’t continue.

"I’m very, very happy with the standard. I’ve got a very good feeling about them."
