Liverpool: Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has admitted midfielder Raul Meireles looks set to be sidelined for a number of weeks, after sustaining a collarbone injury in Wednesday’s 3-1 League Cup victory over Exeter City.
The 28-year-old was forced to leave the field after just 19 minutes following a collision with Exeter defender Danny Coles, with the Portuguese player substituted whilst clutching his shoulder.
Whilst Dalglish does not know the extent of the injury, the Scotsman has speculated that Meireles is likely to be out of action for a "few weeks", including Saturday’s tea-time clash with Bolton Wanderer’s at Anfield.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Dalglish said: "Raul has hurt his collarbone. I don't know what the technical term is but he fell heavily.
"He will come back with us and we will see how long it is before he is back.
"We don't know how serious it is but it'll be a few weeks."
