Manchester: English Premier League champions Man United are reportedly the front-runners to sign highly rated Spanish international Thiago Alcantara according to news Spain and England. Alcantara has a release clause of just 18 million euros, a figure that could have been as high as 90 million euros had Barcelona handed the talented midfielder just one more game last season to alter the terms of his contract.
Manchester United have been monitoring the young Spaniard since last three years and are confident this time of snapping the youngster. Bayern Munich and Manchester City are the other two teams interested in the midfielder but Thiago and his dad, who is also his agent, think Red Devils will give him more playing time than any other team.
Alcantara would be a very wise investment and at this price he will be the perfect fit at Old Trafford. With Paul Scholes bowing out of the game and Darren Fletcher still recovering from illness there is a sense that Moyes sees his midfield as a potential area of weakness and Thiago can be the main man for them next season.
The youngster has been excellent as captain of the Spanish Under 21 side this summer, helping his side to retain their European Under 21 Championship title, scoring a hat-trick in Spain's 4-2 final.
