Perez talked about the agreement between Ronaldo and Real.

London: Florentino Perez, who is expected to return as the President of the Spanish soccer club, Real Madrid on Monday, is highly optimistic about Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Bernabeu.

Perez, who is hoping to be back at the helm of affairs of Real Madrid, discussed not only of the "agreement" between Ronaldo and Real Madrid but also the possibility of Kaka and Franck Ribery joining the Spanish club this summer, reports The Guardian.

The initial thinking was that the arrival of Kaka and Ribery would put an end to speculation of Ronaldo joining Real Madrid but Perez remains keen on signing the 24-year-old Manchester United striker.

"He's (Ronaldo) also a player who would be very good if he came to Real Madrid," said Perez. "What I know is what I've read, there is an agreement by means of which he would come for £80 million."

Asked if he would be given that amount, Perez said, "Next week we will look at the numbers and nobody should doubt that we are going to design with our sporting advisors, a spectacular project."

During his earlier term as President, between 2000 and 2006, Perez sought to introduce one galactico each summer but he indicated last week that this time he "will have to do in one year what would normally be done in three".

Perez has a wish-list of targets and Ronaldo's name is prominent. There are, however, complications because it was the former Real Madrid President, Ramon Calderon, who brokered a deal with Ronaldo's representatives and he was ousted last month.

The agreement will not be legally binding and in any case Perez is understood to be an eager to ensure he is not seen as effectively rubber-stamping a transfer negotiated by his predecessor. He will prioritise the signings of Kaka and Ribery and look to revisit the Ronaldo deal later in the summer, while also seeking to bring down United's asking price.

Perez said "no decision" has been made with regard to identifying a new coach at Real Madrid.
