Genoa: Sinisa Mihajlovic is stepping down as Sampdoria coach, opening up more speculation that he will replace Rafa Benitez at Napoli.
Mihajlovic made the announcement with a statement on Sampdoria's website on Monday, a day after the Genoa club finished seventh in Serie A.
However, the Serb says he's leaving "without having another squad for now, or other negotiations open."
Mihajlovic took over at Sampdoria in November 2013. He previously coached Bologna, Catania, Fiorentina and Serbia's national team.
Former Italy goalkeeper Walter Zenga and Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri have been mentioned as possible replacements for Mihajlovic at Sampdoria.
Sampdoria ended the season with a 2-2 draw against already relegated Parma.
Benitez announced last week that he was leaving Napoli, amid reports that he will take over for Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
