Ant-Man 3 Star Katy O'Brien Recalls 'Chaotic' Filming Experience
Recalling her experience on the sets, Katy O'Brien said, "I think we were getting new pages until the last day."

One of the highly-anticipated films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was released last year, however, it received mixed reviews from fans. Despite the introduction of Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror to the MCU, the film struggled to live up to its expectations, drawing mostly negative reactions. Besides Kang the Conqueror, another major entry was Katy O’Brien’s Jentorra, a sentient humanoid resident of the Quantum Realm. Having already established herself as a TV favourite in the last few years, O’Brian recently opened up about her experience while working on the MCU film and called it “absolutely chaotic.”

In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, O’Brian recalled getting new script pages every day and also having to engage in sudden fight sequences till the last day of the shooting.

“That was absolutely chaotic. I think we were getting new pages until the last day, and I think I was getting new fights the last day. I just show up, and they’re like, ‘Here’s a new fight’,” she said.

The actress while acknowledging that the experience was quite challenging for her, also admitted to receiving a warm welcome from the cast and crew of the project. “I thought me being this kind of like newbie, they might, I don’t know, either ignore me or I would just feel out of place, but they just always made it as welcoming as possible. I was surprised by that environment,” Katy told the outlet.

While Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opened to an underwhelming critical and financial performance, the studio faced another setback in the face of The Marvels, which also underperformed financially.

Made on a budget of $193 million, the third instalment in Scott Lang’s supersaga, Ant-Man 3 could collect only $476 million as per Box Office Mojo.

Having faced a series of box office challenges last year, Disney CEO Bob Iger recently opened up on the same and announced a shift in focus towards quality films. Iger while speaking about Disney’s commitment said that a few projects have been cancelled as they weren’t worthy enough.

“We’re doing a lot. When we talk about improving our film slate, there are really three approaches. One is you have to kill things you no longer believe and that’s not easy in this business. Because either you’ve gotten started, you have some costs. It’s a relationship with either your employees or with a creative community. And it’s not an easy thing. But you gotta make those tough calls. We’ve not been that public about it, but we’ve killed a few projects already that we just didn’t feel were strong enough,” he said at The Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.
