How to Relive the 2010s (for Kids)
How to Relive the 2010s (for Kids)
2010s kids are people who were kids in the 2010s decade. So, people born between the years 2005-2012 were people that spent most of their childhood during this decade. There are some hybrids, such as people born in 2002-2004 who were tweens (kids aged 8-12) during the 2010s and people born in 2013-2016 who were young children when the decade ended. This decade marked a colorful time for society because numerous social changes took place in this period. [1]

Host parties with 2010s music. The music in the 2010s varied a lot between 2010 and 2019. Music changed from EDM and pop tunes to trap and reggaetón. You can make a large playlist full of tunes from the decade, or you could host a party specific to a few years of the decade (e.g. 2010 to 2013 or 2017 to 2019). If you are doing that, put songs that were made in between those years. For early 2010s, you could host an EDM party, with everyone wearing neon clothing and making it glow-in-the-dark. For the late 2010s, a chill or tropical vibe could be established. Request 2010s songs during dances and parties. To feel like a 2010s kid, request songs that were made in the 2010s during dances and other events. Many people like a boost of nostalgia during dances, so they might agree to putting old songs on the dance playlist.

Listen to 2010s songs in the car. Many people enjoy listening to today's tunes in the car to enjoy them or to sing along. If you did this back in the 2010s, you could continue doing so. If you aren't a 2010s kid, try asking your parents to put on some 2010s songs in the car. You can sing along to the songs as your parents drive the car. You can also pretend that you are in a music video. Many kids also like lip-syncing to the song, so you can do that if you want.

In Fashion

Find some 2010s fashion icons. Most of these were famous singers and actors that rose to fame in the 2000s and the 2010s. Music influenced many fashion styles of the 2010s; there were hip-hop, preppy, K-POP, and vintage-inspired fashion styles. Search some of these up to gain some inspiration on your exact 2010s fashion style. Drake Harry Styles Justin Bieber Meghan Markle Nicki Minaj One Direction Rihanna Taylor Swift Timothée Chalamet Tyler, the Creator Zendaya

Wear graphic tees. Specifically, wear graphic tees with cartoon characters from the 2010s or with cute pictures of things on them with a couple of words. Don't buy T-shirts with just words; this will make you look more like a 2000s kid than a 2010s kid. Those were more popular in the 2000s than the 2010s. Graphic tees with animals and cartoons on them are most likely still sold in clothing stores, so you can easily get them.

Wear jeans. Wear jean accessories with other types of clothing to get a mix. If you're wearing jeans as bottoms, wear high-waisted ones for the ultimate 2010s look. You can also wear jeggings (tight jeans), which were a fad in the 2010s. Try not to wear all the jean accessories you have together. For example, don't pair your jeans with a jean jacket or a skirt. Pair it with a hoodie or T-shirt. You can pair jean bottoms with a T-shirt or a polo shirt. You can add a hoodie or a fleece jacket along with the jean accessories too. Adding a denim jacket of a different color other than blue can make your outfit look good.

Wear athletic clothing. Wear athletic clothing like T-shirts, athletic gym shorts, and hoodies for everyday wear. You can also wear leggings if you don't want or have gym shorts. If you wear a uniform to school, wear this when school's not in session. You don't need to add excessive athletic accessories (sweatbands, hoodies, chains, baggy pants) to the mix; these are more of 2000s fashion than 2010s. Wear a regular T-shirt along with gym shorts or sweatpants during cold weather. If it's really cold, wear a hoodie with sweatpants.

Wear clothes with flip sequins. These were a massive trend in the 2010s, and you could see many kids with your school with shirts that had sequins. When you flipped the sequins, the shirt's pattern changed completely. If the shirt had a picture of an animal, flipping the sequins could've changed the type of animal that was on the shirt. Flip sequined shirts were a fad for many kids in the 2010s. These shirts are probably still available, so check clothing retailers near you to see if there are any of these around you.

Wear casual athletic shoes. Most kids in the 2010s wore sneakers and other types of casual shoes to school. You have probably seen kids wear Nike, Adidas, Fila, or Under Armour shoes to school in this decade. Athletic shoes are comfortable to exercise and do physical activity in, which explains why they were (and still are) popular to wear to school; kids run around a lot during PE and recess. Some popular shoe brands from the 2010s include Adidas, Air Jordans, Converse, Diadora, Fila, New Balance, Nike (especially Air Yeezys), Skechers, and Under Armour.

Wear accessories that were popular in the 2010s. 2010s kids often paired their look with different accessories that they could mix and match. The accessories depend on what you wear, so go online to see what accessories best fit your look and outfit. For example, go with a headband in your hair if it's kept down (and if you want a feminine look). Headbands in straight or wavy hair were popular in the 2010s. Make some rainbow loom bracelets to share and wear with your friends. Wear friendship bracelets or regular bracelets on your wrists. Wear a necklace as an accessory. Wear a baseball cap as another athletic accessory. You can wear this with most summer clothing. Wear a regular watch or a smartwatch to school to keep track of the time. It's a fashionable accessory; you can also check the time with it!

Become a member of a subculture. There were many subcultures in the 2010s, along with some new ones. If you want to become part of a subculture, search for one that you connect with the most. See which one goes well with your personality. Become a skaterhead. Look preppy. Be a VSCO kid. This subculture emerged in 2019. Become an e-kid. This subculture emerged during the last years of the 2010s. Become part of the hip-hop subculture.

This was the decade in which mobile games peaked and games with higher definition 3D graphics began to be made. VR was also being developed. Invite your friends to play these games if you want. Use video game consoles released in the 2010s. Nintendo and PlayStation were still competing in the 2010s, as well as Xbox. Chances are, you have used these before or have seen them online. If you have some of these consoles, get them out. If you don't, try searching online for them, although they will probably be more expensive. Most of these consoles aren't produced anymore, so you'll have to check the internet to find them in good condition. Play games with these consoles to experience the 2010s gaming experience! Nintendo Wii U (released in 2012) Nintendo Switch (released in 2017) PlayStation 4 (released in 2013) Xbox One (released in 2013)

Watch kids' movies that were released in the 2010s. During a movie marathon or if you're at a friend's house, suggest adding some nostalgia boosters. See if your TV still airs 2010s cartoons. If it only airs more recent cartoons, try YouTube, Netflix, or another streaming service. If you're not interested in watching cartoons anymore, don't worry!
