How to Transfer Your CodyCross Puzzle Progress Between Phones
How to Transfer Your CodyCross Puzzle Progress Between Phones
If you play CodyCross and need to transfer phones, the good news is that you can ensure a nearly seamless transition. You'll need both your old phone and new phone to ensure all your progress is backed up while moving your details from one phone to the other. This article will cover all the details.
Steps

Determine how much transfer you'll need.

CodyCross can be a bit troublesome when it comes to switching phones. While it may be simple to switch from one generation of one operating system to another of that same operating system, having to switch to something as troublesome as from one operating system to another can cause some issues. For those switching from Android to Android, CodyCross provides cloud backup options through your Google Account. For those switching from Apple iPhones to Apple iPads or another Apple iPhone (or vice versa), they provide cloud backup through your Apple iCloud account. But for those switching between Android and Apple (or Apple and Android), they ask you to use a Facebook Connect/Facebook) login, since neither of the phone logins are accessible on the other device. Realize you'll still need your old phone for a few days before switching not only to ensure the old data is staying in sync, but also because it takes some time to sync the old data. However, once it is syncing successfully, you may disband the old phone - but keep the login on the third party active and don't log out on the old phone until the new one has been set up and used. (This part of the step is crucial.)

Set up the old phone.

This process takes two parts. Think of this as "getting" and "setting up" (based on which phone you'll have to use), but both must be done in order. If you have yet to determine how much syncing needs to be done and where it must be synced to, do that before you start syncing the game. Go into the games Settings menu. Again, the Settings menu can be found in the green and white hamburger menu on most CodyCross pages in the top right corner of the screen, then tap "Settings." Log into the service. Scroll down until you see a "Log in with Facebook" and either "Sign in with Apple" or "Log in with Google" button. You'll need to log into the service. Upon logging in, you'll need to have the app remember the username credentials that you supply so it can keep your details the same after your progress through the day and days ahead. Also, every time you see a CodyCross splash screen with CodyCross on the front, the same button is there to help you log in and set up your syncing. Throughout the menus and based on prior use, you may be told whether you have connected your account to the service before - and most often this wanted! Allow these types of boxes at all costs, unless you've logged into the wrong account accidentally.

Set up the new phone.

Setting up the new phone with the old data carried over won't take much time. However, it's the time between the time of synchronization from the old that can make it a challenge to find the progress in ready-to-sync. Connect the new phone (from here on in). Connecting it to the third-party Facebook (again, cross-platform necessary, intra-platform optional) or separate operating system (intro-platform necessary, cross-platform non-existent), takes the same process as connecting your old phone - going to your CodyCross settings and logging into these services. Log into the service with the same username/password you used with the old phone to connect to your new phone. It will eventually ask you the vital question: (Restore progress from a synced device) (necessary) or (keep the new phone's progress) (unwarranted for this article's title). Tap the necessary choice and wait for the game to refresh to the current world. You will need to at least complete the initial tutorial from the new phone.

Follow up with the old phone. (optional)

You can complete this step if you'd like to keep playing on one phone. Otherwise, you can still leave the second phone, as a convert-back scenario unfolds. CodyCross only allows you to use one device and all others break that link. CodyCross doesn't allow players to switch between phones, as syncing doesn't work the way CodyCross wants it to if they find you are switching between phones often. After you switch to the new phone, CodyCross makes it clear they don't want players switching in and out between two phones - and screwing up the syncing system in place. Log out of all game syncs on the old phone. Go back into your CodyCross settings, and tap "Log out" or "Sign out" of both synced connection points, if you so need.

What's your reaction?
