iPhone Overheating? Causes + 7 Quick Ways to Cool It Down
Is your iPhone overheating? Whether you have a regular iPhone, iPhone Pro, or Pro Max, you may think that the back of your device gets hot for no reason. This can be due to a variety of factors, but luckily there are ways to keep it cool. Here's what to do if your iPhone is overheating.
Why Does My iPhone Overheat?

Why is my iPhone getting hot?

Your iPhone may get hot due to overuse, the environment, or software issues. Sometimes, using non-Apple chargers can cause your phone to overheat. Your iPhone may overheat if you leave it in a hot car, perform intensive tasks such as setting up for the first time or restoring from a backup, or even streaming videos at a high quality. iOS now sends a warning screen when your iPhone is about to exceed a certain temperature threshold.

Preventing Overheating

Let your phone rest in a cool area. Never leave your iPhone—or other electronics—in direct sunlight unattended.

Take off the case. Some cases may prevent proper airflow from getting to your device. Be careful removing the case if your iPhone is extremely hot; some parts may burn you.

Leave your iPhone alone for a bit. If your iPhone gets too hot, iOS will issue a temperature warning on the screen. Before you get to this point, take a break from your phone to allow it to rest and cool down.

Disable Background App Refresh. This feature keeps apps up-to-date when not in use. To disable it, do the following: Open Settings. Tap General. Tap Background App Refresh. Tap Background App Refresh again. Tap Off.

Turn on Airplane Mode. This mode disables all Wi-Fi and cellular on your device. If you get a lot of notifications, messages, and calls, this can ensure your phone is left alone while it cools.

Update your iPhone. If there's a software bug affecting your iPhone, updating to the latest version is your best bet at fixing it.

Use Apple-certified accessories. This includes anything that connects to your iPhone, such as charging cables, headphones, and adapters. Some third-party accessories may not be fully compatible with your device and can cause overheating.

What's your reaction?
