15-member cultural delegation from China visits Bangalore

As a mark to observe the Year of China and India, a 15-member cultural delegation from Shandong Province in China visited the city on Monday.

The delegation included Sun Shougang, member of the Standing Committee of Communist Party in China among others. “Both our countries have a shared history. We come from ancient civilisations. Shandong is the birthplace of Chinese civilisation and has most the dynamic culture and economic power,” Shougang said.

He added that his government would push for greater co-operation between India and China in tourism and industry sectors. Shougang invited the Indian delegation to Shandong Province to take part in the Chinese National Art Festival which will be held in 2013. Shandong, on the East Coast of Mainland With a GDP of $721 billion, the province has the third largest economy in the country.

Former Union minister M V Rajasekaran said, “The Chinese are extremely practical and pragmatic people. Even though both our countries have the same amount of agricultural land, they manage to produce three times more than India. We have a lot to learn. He pushed for greater co-operation with China in the IT and hardware sectors.
