COIMBATORE: After a week of interrogating the three prime accused in the multi-crore Paazee fraud, the CBI was granted custody of two of the three accused — K Mohanraj and Kamalavalli — for five more days, by a court here on Friday.The other accused, K Kathiravan, who had asked for bail on the ground that he was only a “sleeping partner” in the company, has been remanded in judicial custody till August 26. The hearing on his bail petition was adjourned to August 24.The three absconding directors of the Paazee Group of Companies, which allegedly swindled `1,600 crore of depositors’ money, were arrested by the CBI on August 11. The court, set up under the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) (TNPID) Act, granted the investigating agency seven-day custody of the three on August 12. But, the CBI sleuths could interrogate first accused Mohanraj only for five days, as he was in a hospital for two days of the custody period.When the three were produced before second additional district judge (CBI cases) V Ramasamy on Friday, he granted custody of Mohanraj and Kamalavalli for five more days. Both should be produced before the court on August 24.
