THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The construction work of the pavilion of the much anticipated project - Smart City Kochi (SCK) would take another three more weeks for completion, said MD Baju George.“Though the initial plan was to complete the work within sixteen weeks from its inception on October 8, 2011, it would take three more weeks for the work to complete. Our idea was to emulate the Dubai style of work, but the same pace couldn’t be achieved in Kochi. There are 41 workers at the site on Monday and there is no hindrance to the work,” he told Express. Earlier, Labour Minister Shibu Baby John and SCK MD had agreed in principle to set up Kerala Academy of Skilled Excellence (KASE) for skill upgradation, before the SCK became a reality.KASE, under the complete control of the State Government, would be developed with support of technical institutions with international repute.“As the project envisages more IT Enabled Services such as media, finance and research and innovation, the skills of the local manpower should be upgraded for better performance and induction,” said Baju.KASE would now need the nod of the Cabinet and Smart City Kochi Board of Directors.
