CHENNAI: It was a filmy-style drama for three hours at Ennore on Tuesday morning when a 40-year-old man, who was suspended from work, threatened to jump off a 60-feet-high water tank. After struggling for three hours to convince the man, police finally brought him down. Police said Moses (40), who was working at the Ennore Foundaries, was suspended from work seven months back after he reportedly picked up a fight with a security personnel. Since then, the man had been visiting his office and requesting his higher officials to take him back.On Tuesday morning the man approached his bosses again, but they told him to wait till an enquiry against him was over. A dejected Moses then climbed up the over the 60-feet-high water tank and threatened to jump off, if he was not taken back to work.Soon, crowd gathered in front of the tank and Ennore police and fire officials, who were called, too arrived at the spot. Police attempted in vain to convince him. At one point, he had even reportedly told police that he would jump off, if they climbed up to rescue him.Police sources said, the man had three bottles of kerosene in a bag and threatened to set himself on fire. Police and a local councillor spoke to him over microphone assuring him to sort out the issue. After three hours of talks, Moses finally stepped down. He was later taken to police station and was let off after a stern warn. “Moses said his family was suffering as he did not have a job,” said a police official.
