A 72-year-old woman was strangulated to death by unidentified assailants at her house in Gandhi colony in Muzaffarnagar, police said on Monday.
The incident happened on Sunday night, when Pushpa Kapur, wife of late Colonel DN Kapur was alone at her house, Dy Superintendent of Police Sanjive Vachpayee told reporters in Muzaffarnagar.
Her body was found on a bed with her hands and foot tied, he said. The case in being investigated, police said, adding that the body has been sent for postmortem.
In another incident, a 30-year-old Dalit man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in Kasampur village, police said on Monday.
The incident happened on Sunday night, they said, adding that the deceased Amer Singh's body has been sent for postmortem.
