New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh on Thursday compared the on-going crisis in the party as "growing-up problems" and said the outfit's transition from agitation mind frame to a political party was yet to complete.
He also termed the party's current phase as most "vulnerable" and compared it to a transition from childhood to adulthood, which is why the two-year-old party was facing such problems.
"It's a two-year-old party. The party is under-going a transition phase from an agitation mindset to transformation to a full-fledged political party," Ashutosh said during a debate on the 2014 (general) and 2015 (Delhi) elections organised by Political Science Department of Hindu College in New Delhi.
Ashutosh, who is the convenor of party's Delhi unit, said unlike a movement and an agitation, which has a short shelf life and is restricted to a particular theme, a political party has longer shelf life.
"This is the most vulnerable phase of the party as it is growing up. There is a difference between agitation and running a political party. "Most of our volunteers and leaders are from that background. So different people have different opinions on how the party should be. That is the fundamental reason for this situation. This is a clash of ideas and it will remain.
"Things will settle down once the transition is complete. An agitation or a movement is there for a specific time frame till the reason is there, but a political party has a much larger shelf life," he said.
Ashutosh added that the BJP too faced a similar problem when Atal-Advani era ended and saw a dawn of Narendra Modi's era.
