The Circle Inspector accused in the sexual harassment case was arrested from a private hospital here on Sunday.
CI T T Subramanian, the accused, was undergoing treatment for high blood-pressure and an infection in the ear, said Ibrahim, Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Subramanian, a CI with the Rapid Rescue Response Force unit at Pandikkadavu in Malappuram, had been on the run ever since his bail was revoked by the District Sessions Court on July 30.
Subramanian was arrested by the Wadakkanchery police for sexually harassing a woman on a bus on July 18. He was granted bail by the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court. The victim had approached the District Sessions Court against the lower court’s order to grant bail. The court had observed that bail to the accused in the case would convey a wrong message to society.
The lapse by the police in nabbing the accused had also invited sharp criticism from various quarters.
