AIADMK nominee, Congress cadre clash

CHENNAI: An AIADMK candidate for the upcoming local body polls and the supporters of a Congress nominee were hurt in a clash between the two groups at Triplicane on Sunday. Police sources said, Nagamani, the AIADMK candidate for Ward 59, was standing near her house in S M Nagar, near Monroe Statue, when an autorickshaw ferrying the supporters of Manipal, her rival from the Congress camp, allegedly brushed past her around 6 pm. This led to a verbal altercation between Nagamani and the rival group. The tiff then snowballed into a fight in which Nagamani and Congress workers Prabhu and his wife Pughaz, residents of the same area, were injured.  The injured were later taken to the GGH. The Triplicane police registered a case.
