Akhilesh’s Anti-Noteban Posterboy Ditches Him at Last Minute, Does Not Turn Up to Receive Gift
Last week, Yadav had announced that he would be gifting two furnished apartments to the toddler on his second birthday at Kanpur Dehat’s Sardarpur village.

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was left red-faced on Sunday when his two-year-old ‘demonetisation posterboy’ ditched him at the last minute and did not turn up with his mother to receive the two houses Yadav had planned to gift him in full public view.

Khajanchi Nath, who was the face of SP chief’s anti-demonetisation campaign in 2017, was born while his mother was standing in queue outside a bank during demonetisation. Last week, Yadav had announced that he would be gifting two furnished apartments to the toddler on his second birthday at Kanpur Dehat’s Sardarpur village.

But refusing to visit Sardarpur, Khajanchi’s mother Sarvesha Devi said that whoever wanted to help or visit the boy must come to her maternal village in Anandpur as she fears her in-laws would beat her up if they saw her in Sardarpur.  Her husband had died a few years ago and Khajanchi was born to her on December 2, 2016.

“Humein nahi pata tha dadi aur nani mein hi jhagra hai… (We didn’t know there is a conflict between his maternal and paternal homes),” Indian Express quoted Akhilesh as saying on Sunday. Khajanchi’s grandmother was present during the former CM’s visit, but it is unclear whether the house was handed over to her.
