BANGALORE: BASE, the Bangalore based, premier training organisation providing training for competitive examinations like IIT-JEE, AIEEE, AIPMT, CET and COMEDK announced that 23 of the students have qualified in the first stage of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) examination, a Government of India initiative to encourage students of basic sciences, engineering and medicine to take up research careers.The KVPY is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and administered by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.Speaking on the occasion, Dr H S Nagaraja Founder Director of BASE said, “We are happy that a number of our students have qualified in the KVPY exam 2011. The programmes like IIT JEE Achiever, Medical Excel prepare students for various examinations and KVPY is one such exam. The credit goes to the students for taking up the challenge and coming out successful. I also wish to thank our teachers for providing guidance and support to these children.”The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” (KVPY) programme started in 1999. The aim of the programme is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.This programme strives to assist the students to realise their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development in the country. Scholarships are provided up to the pre-PhD levels to the selected students.
