The protest lasted for more than two hours.“For more than a year, we have been asking the pan-chayat president and pan-chayat union officers for the identity cards... The pan-chayat president told us to approach the union office, but the officers told us to ask the panchayat president. During this time, a whole year has gone by,” said Kamalam. It is said that MGNREGS cards had been issued to 1,200 persons in the Thiruchopuram village panchayat and remaining 730 applicants have not been given the cards yet despite repeated demands.Ravishankar said, “My role is only of a mediator between people and officers in this matter.
