New Delhi: Anna Hazare on Tuesday evening refused intravenous drip and hospitalisation as recommended by doctors after they checked his vital signs. Hazare has already lost more than 5 kg since August 16, the day he started the second leg of his protest against corruption from the capital and his health has deteriorated.
Dr Naresh Trehan of Medanta Medicity, who is leading a team of doctors taking care of Hazare, said that he advised the 74-year-old social activist to get admitted to a hospital on day 8 of his protest, but Hazare refused saying that he would stay at Ramlila Maidan along with his supporters.
"We have checked Anna's vital signs. We have told him given his condition he needs to go to the hospital, but he has refused. He says that he want to stay with his supporters. He asked us to administer the drip to him here itself," Trehan said on Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day Justice Santosh Hegde had appealed to Anna to end his fast as his ketone levels were increasing.
"I made an appeal to Anna ji to end his fast because I am concerned about his health," said Hegde.
Hegde also said that the entire movement was because of Anna Hazare and the protest would continue even if he called off his fast.
