CHENNAI: A police inspector was mowed down by a train, when he tried to cross the rail track at Avadi on Monday.Sources said Chakravarthi, a resident of Pillayar Kovil Street in Jeeva Nagar, was inspector at the Thirumullavoyal police station. On Monday morning, he was making his way home after finishing duty. On seeing the railway gate near Annanur railway station closed, the inspector made his way across the track, when a train from Tirupathi ran over him.
