TIRUNELVELI: Another woman participant of the fast-unto-death agitation launched by PMANE coordinator S P Udayakumar was hospitalised on Monday. However, the other 13 protesters continued their fast at Idinthakarai, which entered the eighth day on Monday.While one woman protester, Melbret, was admitted at a Lourde Hospital in the coastal village on Sunday after her condition worsened, another woman, Ponesakiammal, was admitted to the hospital on Monday. On Monday morning, a medical team from Thisayanvilai PHC examined the health of those on fast at Idinthakarai.M P Jesuraj, a protest committee leader, told Express that the health condition of five protesters, including Udayakumar, was deteriorating. The medical team examined them on Monday and told us that they would take them out for giving medical treatment. But the villagers refused fearing that in the name of treatment they might be arrested. The locals also feared that in the guise of searching for Naxals, cops might enter their village any time. As a result they have stopped buses coming to Idinthakarai, he added.
