The headquarters building of
Organization for Counter Terrorists Operations (OCTOPUS), the
elite anti-terror commando unit of Andhra Pradesh Police, was
today inaugurated by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at
Begumpet here. The building, constructed at the cost of Rs five crore,
has a state-of-the-art conference hall and communication
network. The work was executed by the Andhra Pradesh State
Police Housing Corporation Ltd. The Chief Minister also reviewed the activities of
OCTOPUS and the construction work of Commando Training Centre
at Ibrahimpatnam. Several issues pertaining to the police
department were discussed, an official release said. He also saw the sophisticated firearms accessories and
equipment used by the OCTOPUS commandos. The commandos gave a demonstration of their skills in
`House Intervention Hostage Rescue' and an Israeli combat
technique known as `Krav Maga' before the Chief Minister,
state Home Minister P Sabita Indira Reddy, and Director
General of Police V Dinesh Reddy.
